Creating a personal Android app requires us to solve a lot of common challenges. Sometimes some of these challenges require so much time that we start to forget about the product we are building. Firebase can act as a toolbox to give functionality like analytics, databases, messaging and crash reporting so we can move quickly and focus on our users.
I had the opportunity to give my first official Android talk during AndroidMakers in Paris on the 24th of April this year. This was an awesome experience and I really appreciated how people were deeply interested in Firebase. The audience’s questions made me understand that Firebase is still in a big transition and sometimes they lack of documentation regarding specific points maintaining some confusion.
A important take-away regarding this talk is that, as engineers building our own app, we often commit to very specific technical stuff. We must put user experience first. Don’t be afraid on using Firebase products to avoid reinventing the wheel and make sure to get as much as possible user feedbacks.
